Traditional healer remanded in custody

The 43-year-old man, a well-known traditional healer, was arrested on Saturday

LIMPOPO – A 43-year-old man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at Ga-Marishane village, Nebo appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday) and was remanded in custody.

He is set to reappear on 16 January for a formal bail application, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moathse Ngoepe.

Police investigations continue.

LIMPOPO – A 43-year-old man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at Ga-Marishane village, Nebo was arrested on Saturday evening, says the police.

This follows a manhunt after the man, a well-known traditional healer, disappeared after the alleged rape said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moathse Ngoepe.

The girl was allegedly raped on Friday after visiting the healer’s home for a medical consultation.

“As part of the consultation, the accused gave her traditional medications to drink and subsequently she felt dizzy and the suspect took her to a room where he raped her,” Ngoepe said.

The suspect will appear before the Nebo Magistrate Court today on a charge of rape.

Police investigations are still continuing, he concluded.
