Fender-bender blocks traffic

As soon as I realised the truck hit something I immediately stopped to see what happened - truck driver

POLOKWANE – A truck and a bakkie were involved in a minor accident at a filling station in Vermikuliet Street today which lead to two lanes being blocked off.

The truck driver, Leonard Seoka, said he was waiting for oncoming traffic and wanted to head north out of the filling station when the accident happened.

“I suspect the driver of the bakkie was becoming impatient while I was waiting to turn into traffic and tried to squeeze between the truck and the pavement in an attempt to pass. I did not notice the bakkie and when I manoeuvered the truck to turn left onto the road, the truck collided with the bakkie. As soon as I realised the truck hit something I immediately stopped to see what happened,” Seoka told Review.

Seoka said the bakkie had existing damage which he said could not have been caused by the collision with his truck.

“The damage to the side mirror was the only damage the bakkie sustained after it had hit the truck. The damage on the side doors was already there before the accident happened,” Seoka said.

Traffic officers were called to the scene, no one sustained injuries due to the accident and traffic flow was restored.
