Registering your child in school in 2017

It is the new year and you have yet to registered your child in a school, what now?

POLOKWANE – Spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Education, Dr. Naledzani Rasila tells Review parents who did not adhere to the deadlines set by the department in 2016 will have to contact the department’s district office to find placement for their children.

“There had been enough time given to parents to get their children registered so parents who have proper reasons like moving to a new province or city will be accommodated first,” Rasila says.

He urges parents to ensure they have the proper documentation required to have a child registered in a school.

In order to register, the following documents are compulsory:

• Application form from the school

• Official birth certificate

• Immunisation card

If you are moving your child from one school to another, submit latest school report, and a transfer card.

If your child is not a South African citizen, include the following documents:

• Study permit

• Temporary or permanent residence permit or proof that you have applied for permission to stay in South Africa.

The Department of Education can be contacted on 015 977 8434 or 015 290 7600/7601
