LIMPOPO – A 26-year-old woman was shot and killed during a domestic related incident at gaMoloi village in the Nebo policing area, says the police.
According to a statement issued by Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the incident, between the victim and her 53-year-old boyfriend, took place yesterday (Sunday) at around 09:00.
“It is alleged a quarrel ensued between the two whereby she fled to neighbor’s house.. the boyfriend who was in ‘hot pursuit’ shot her. She died instantly,” explained Mojapelo.
The boyfriend was later found in the house he and the deceased shared… he allegedly shot himself dead.
It is believed the boyfriend, who is from Ndzhelele in the Vhembe district, had a protection order issued against the woman. This happened after he was allegedly retrenched from work.
The firearm used during the incident is licensed and belongs to him added Mojapelo.
A case of Murder and Inquest is being investigated, he concluded.
