POLOKWANE – The municipality has received reports about electricity being down in a number of areas following damage caused by lightning and heavy rains.
According to a municipal press statement reports have been received from zone 1 and zone 1 extension, zone 5, zone 2, Bendor, Ster Park and Flora Park.
“Teams from the electrical department have been dispatched to assess the damage and reconnect areas with minor challenges. Please note due to the number of reports being received it might take a while before your specific area is attended to, however, the municipality is giving the matter priority and will work around the clock to ensure that all areas are reconnected.”
The public is advised to treat all exposed electrical wires to be live in order to avoid injury and possible electrocution. Further all electrical appliances including geysers should be switched off to avoid damage.
