Help to brighten someone’s day

For Lize Botha, starting a collection project with three of her friends, which will eventually lead to a Christmas Party for Vision of Hope, is something she says she had to do.

Not only is this the season to be jolly but it also the season for giving and helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

For Lize Botha, starting a collection project with three of her friends, which will eventually lead to a Christmas Party for Vision of Hope, is something she says she had to do.

“There are so many who have nothing. How can I enjoy a festive season knowing there might be someone who does not have anything to look forward to on Christmas?” she asks.

Lize and her team began collecting donations of clothing, toiletries, food and toys among other things which they will hand over to about 300 people from shelters and retirement homes in and around the city this Saturday at Cuzabuli.

There will also be a special visit by Santa who will light up the faces of the 75 children who will receive Christmas presents.

“There has been an overwhelming response from the public and we have received so many donations already but there are still certain items that we need,” she explains.

The following items are still needed:

• Toiletries for 180 adults.

• Charcoal and firelighters.

• Lucky packets.

• Sweet packs.

• Chips.

• Chicken pieces or flatties.

• Bread rolls.

• Margarine.
