The patients at the Paediatric Onchology (TLC) Ward were treated to an early Christmas party last night (Tuesday).
A festively decorated hall, Christmas cheer and song welcomed the patients and their mothers.
The children, parents and ward medical staff were welcomed by Reinhardt Meyer, chairperson of the Community Policing Forum’s (CPF) sector four. Each of the patients received a present from Santa Claus, Justin Booysen, CPF member. The parcels contained clothes and a ball for the little ones and a gamepad and ball for the older children.
Sector four operates in Flora Park and its members raised funds to buy the gifts. Various donations were also received. Maureen Louw, a volunteer at the ward was responsible for the decorations in the hall while a Christmas tree, huge cake and beverages were donated by Checkers Pietersburg.
Bobby Were, Cansa Facilitator at the Ward, expressed his gratitude towards all who made the party possible and said that the children need occasions where people spend time with them to uplift their spirits during their fight against cancer.
