Case against Lebowakgomo murder suspect postponed

The 52-year-old suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Albert Dalom Mashego (44) appeared before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate's Court yesterday (Tuesday).

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the murder case against the 52-year-old suspect, from Kgautswana village, was postponed to 19 December for a formal bail application.

The suspect handed himself over to the police the day after he allegedly shot Mashego a well-known businessman also from the Kgautswane village. He allegedly shot the deceased several times and fled the scene in the deceased’s vehicle on Saturday evening.

Ngoepe added; “the deceased sustained multiple gun shot wounds and was was taken to the local clinic but was certified dead on arrival.”

“The motive behind this killing is still unknown but our preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased and the suspect were having a conflict over soccer players… they are both are owners of a soccer team.”

Police investigations are still continuing.
