Aganang Municipality dissolved – assets redistributed

After the Angang Local Municipality was dissolved following the Local Government Election held in August, its moveable assets were distributed to other municipalities.

LIMPOPO – Certain portions of Aganang were incorporated into Polokwane, Blouberg and Molemole local municipalities in the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM).

The Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs mandated CDM to coordinate the allocation of the assets accordingly.

CDM Spokesperson, Moffat Senyatsi, confirmed the redistribution of the assets.

He could not provide a comprehensive report on the allocation, but said the vehicle that was used by then mayor Maria Mokobodi, has been allocated to one of the three municipalities. However, Molemole spokesperson, Morongoa Pholoa, confirmed that the vehicle in question, a Jeep Cherokee is among the assets they received from the district municipality.

She said those assets will form part of the municipality’s property.

“The municipality has received several assets, including computer keyboards, office chairs, cars, a truck and the vehicle that was used by the mayor of Aganang.

“However, council is yet to conduct a sitting to discuss the way forward on how to utilise these assets here in Molemole. I also need to indicate that the mayor of Molemole does not have three cars. We only have one car which we procured recently.”

Spokesperson for Blouberg Municipality, Peter Moruthane confirmed that they have received trucks and graders from Aganang, which will come handy in the delivery of services to residents.

“We received two trucks and two vans from Aganang, a grader and an SUV. The trucks and the grader have started working.”

Polokwane Municipal Spokesperson Tshidiso Mothapo said following the integration of Aganang into Polokwane, they received the biggest chunk of the assets and personnel.
