Power to most areas have been restored – muni

The municipality reassures residents that they will continue to work around the clock to repair all damaged infrastructure

POLOKWANE – Following a massive storm yesterday afternoon, which has left most of the city it tatters, the municipality is reassuring residents that they will continue to work around the clock following most areas being left in the dark due to the storm.

“During periods like this where infrastructure is affected on a massive scale, priority is given to large sections and followed by block and single complaints. About 99% of large areas have been restored,” says Polokwane Municipality’s Stakeholder Relations Officer, Disree Manyane.

Manyane says remaining areas include Seshego zone 3, Westenburg Ext 3 and Penina Park.

“Work is starting on block and single areas this morning at block and single areas that have been reported including General Smit and Hertzog streets and streets in Serala View,” she said.

Those who may still be affected are advised to report to 0152902000, 2457, 2458, 2001 and 2002.

Manyane advises all residents that all electrical appliances including geysers should be switched off to avoid damage when electricity is restored and that feedback on updates will be provided as progress is received.

“The municipality apologies for any inconvenience that may arise out of this.”
