Man (37) appears for double murder of young boys

A 37-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of two boys outside Ga-Chuene, Thokgoaneng appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Monday.

POLOKWANE – The suspect, a close relative of one of the boys, was arrested together with three local sangomas following the discovery of  the bodies of the two boys, Petrus Shoka (7) and his friend, Samuel Ngobeni (10), said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“The two bodies were found by a passer-by who then reported the discovery to the police,” said Ngoepe. He states the police acted swiftly in recovering the bodies. It was found that they had sustained multiple head injuries.

Ngoepe said they cannot confirm if the murders were ritual killings, adding that the postmortem results will hopefully provide more answers.

The three sangomas aged 25, 39 and 46 have since been released.

The suspect charged with two counts of murder will reappear before the court on 12 December. He will remain in custody until then concluded Ngoepe.
