Two pangolins rescued in Makhado area

One rifle and 11 rounds of live ammunition were also recovered during the arrest.

LOUIS TRICHARDT- Two suspects aged 24 and 29-year-old were arrested for the possession of pangolins yesterday (Sunday).

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, one rifle and 11 rounds of live ammunition were also recovered during the arrest.

Meanwhile three suspected poachers on their way to poach at the Eckland Safari Farm were also arrested during a intelligence driven operation conducted in the Makhado Policing area yesterday added Ngoepe.

“The three suspects, aged 28, 29 and 72-years-old were arrested after SAPS members followed up on a tip-off received from residents about the movements of the suspected poachers.

The suspects will appear before Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations continue.
