MOKOPANE – Tolly Mashamaite, (Former Regional Secretary of the ANC) was declared innocent of rape and bribery in the Mokopane Regional Court today (Monday) by Magistrate Gerhard Pretorius.
Mashamaite was accused of raping and bribing a 33-year-old woman in a local hotel earlier this year. He was arrested on 11 October on charges of rape and bribery.
Three witnesses appeared before the court today and after a heated trial, Mashamaite was found not guilty.
Outside the court, a large crowd of ANC members walked through the streets singing and chanting in celebration of his victory.
