SAPS crackdown on criminals during Festive Season Operation

Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe issued a statement confirming the arrest of more than five people in possession of either drugs, stolen property or unlicensed firearms in the province recently.

LIMPOPO – Police arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Ga-Moteti village outside Dennilton yesterday (Thursday) morning.

A 7.65mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition was confiscated during the arrest.

While in Lephalale, two Zimbabwean nationals aged 35 and 39 were arrested for housebreaking and theft.

Police found a Plasma TV, DVD player, a pair of tekkies in their possession.

The Provincial Drug Unit arrested a 28-year-old man for possession of drugs at Mamone village near Jane Furse outside Lebowakgomo. They confiscated 150 bags of Nyaope with an estimated street value of R7 500 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for theft of cellphones in the Seshego cluster while in Makhado, a 29-year-old man from Mpheni village was arrested after he was found in possession of a 9 mm firearm, one magazine with nine live rounds and 30 spent cartridges.

All the arrested suspects will appear before various Magistrate’s Courts soon and police investigations are continuing.
