Sad farewell to 2 longest-serving police members

"It is a great loss to the station but we have to accept it because their time to rest has come"

LIMPOPO – Groblersdal police bid farewell to two of their longest-serving members during an emotional function at the Wolf’s Rock Lodge near Masakaneng settlement outside Groblersdal last Wednesday.

According to police the two officers, Captains Estelle Wessels (55), and Hlakudi Matsepe (60), both served in the policing service for 35 years.

During the farewell function Brig Lucas Mogwaneng, Groblersdal Cluster Commander, encouraged members to learn a lesson from the commitment and determination the two officers showed by their many years of service.

“As members we should work as a team. We must have a positive attitude which will lead to positive results,” advised Mogwaneng.

Mogwaneng further appealed to station commanders to always show happiness and appreciate the work done by officers.

Const Julia Mampa, Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, described Wessels and Matsepe as friendly officers who always showed a great deal of commitment to their duties.

“Wessels and Matsepe were always willing to go the extra mile.

“They made sure they availed themselves whenever their services were needed at the station. They would come even if they were called during weekends when they were off-duty.

“They will forever be missed. It is a great loss to the station but we have to accept it because their time to rest has come,” said Mampa.

Both Wessels and Matsepe said they would miss working at the Groblersdal Police Station as the years they spent there made them feel part of the family.
