Missing boy (7) and friend’s body found

Three Sangomas were taken in for questioning after the bodies of two young boys who went missing earlier this week were found a few kilometres outside Ga-Chuene, Thokgoaneng on Thursday evening.

POLOKWANE – Review reported that one of the deceased, Petrus Shoka (7), went missing on Monday, 28 November. He and his friend, Samuel Ngobeni (10) were last seen playing along the street at around 16:00 that afternoon.

The parents of Petrus opened a case at the Lebowakgomo Police Station.

According to Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the search ensued by various police units immediately after the matter was reported with no success, until yesterday (Thursday) eveing. Both children were found in the bushes outside the village.

“The two bodies were found by a passer-by who then reported the discovery to the police,” says Ngoepe. He states the police acted swiftly in recovering the bodies. It was found that they had sustained multiple head injuries.

“Three local Sangomas aged 25, 39 and 46 were subsequently arrested for questioning,” Ngoepe continues.

When asked if these were ritual killings, Ngoepe said they cannot confirm it as yet, however the post-mortem will show if there is any tissue or body parts missing from the bodies.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt General Nneke Ledwaba condemned the killing of young and innocent children, especially at the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism on No Violence against Women and Children.

Ledwaba requested family members and members of the community allow the police to do their job. The suspects are being investigated.

Police investigations are continuing.
