Today, 29 November is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving. This initiative by the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) aims to make cancer treatment more accessible.
POLOKWANE – By donating to the Cansa foundation, you can help provide patients who live far from treatment centres a place to stay while they undergo treatment.
Radiotherapy is probably the oldest treatment for cancer still in use as it has been proven to shrink tumours and kill off any rogue cells after surgery. It is given in a short burst of a few minutes, five days a week, sometimes for as long as six weeks.
In order to undergo radiotherapy, patients need to travel to treatment centres which are only located in larger cities. For patients who live far away, travelling there every few days can be challenging.
Your support means these patients will be cared for by highly skilled nursing sisters, compassionate staff and volunteers, exactly the kind of encouragement and help a cancer patient needs.
