POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service invites the community to assist them in their fight against crime.
Anyone who is energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit and that is dedicated with the desire to serve their country on a voluntary basis as reservists, can apply.
A reservist performs voluntary duty in the SAPS without any expectation of receiving compensation for such duty.
In terms of the Regulations of the South African Reserve Police Service, you may be called up by the National Commissioner to perform duties in order to strengthen and support the police in performing its constitutional mandate as set out in Section 205 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 and that you will not receive remuneration if you volunteer. (only if called up).
You will be expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours voluntary duty per month.
Applicants should be residents of South Africa and be between the ages of 20 years and 50 years. You should be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a reservist and be of good and sound character.
You should be in possession of at least a senior certificate (Gr 12) or have successfully completed a SAQA-accredited NQF level 4 qualification.
You should be able to speak, read and write at least two official languages of which English must be one.
You should not have a criminal record or any criminal or departmental cases pending against you and not have any tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing a uniform, as this is irreconcilable with the objectives of the service.

Provincial spokesperson, Ronel Otto, said that Review should speak to the National Police, who did not respond to our queries or phone calls.
