Lenard van Dyk left a smile in his wake

A bright beacon of kind light in the city was suddenly snuffed out by a heart attack, leaving an emptiness that will never be filled.

POLOKWANE – Lenard Gabriel van Dyk, a well-known businessman in the city and longstanding member of the Pietersburg Club passed away last Tuesday after suffering a heart attack.

Van Dyk was well-known by many for being a man who never thought twice about helping someone in need. His best friend, Bazil Newham, describes him as a man who might have looked hard on the outside, but in fact had a very soft heart. He was always prepared to help his fellow man, not only paying for medical care but other needs people might have as well.

“He was a man with the best sense of humour I have ever met and his place will be left empty forever,” Newham said.

Van Dyk moved to Polokwane in 1984 and through his hard work and attention to detail soon became one of the best-known builders in the city.

Van Dyk leaves behind a son, Paul, and two daughters, Shonean and Tracy.

The family thanks everyone for their support in this difficult time.
