GIYANI: Second prison escapee to appear in court

 The Police in Hlanganani outside Giyani have launched a massive manhunt for the two awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the police holding cells.

LIMPOPO –  The remaining remaining prison escape, 25-year-old Anele Nghunyulu Nkuna was re-arrested by Hlanganani Police within the Hlanganani Policing area outside Giyani on Sunday.
Nkuna was arrested during a special Intelligent-led-Joint-Operation composed of the Crime Intelligent, the  Detectives and Crime prevention and was found in possession of a 9mm short pistol with 6 live rounds said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
This re-arrest followed the re-arrest of Mafemani Richard Baloyi (38) on 9 November. Baloyi appeared the same day before Tiyani District Court for escaping from lawfiul custody and the case was reminded to the 23 November 2016 for further investigations. He was remanded in custody.

Anele Nkuna will still appear before the Tiyani District Court today (Monday) on charges of escaping from lawful custody and possession of firearm and ammunition without license.

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Jim Ledwaba would like commend people in the community who supported the police by supplying quality and reliable information which led to the re-arrest of both this escapees. “Let the same spirit prevail forever in the fight against crime.”

LIMPOPO -According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the two prisoners escaped through the roof of the exercise room between 13:00 to 14:00 on Saturday and disappeared.

The escapees were identified as Mafemani Richard Baloyi (38) who was arrested for attempted murder and Anele Nghunyulu Nkuna (25) who was arrested for a series of house robberies in the Hlanganani Policing area. Both suspects are from the Hlanganani area.

Police investigations on the circumstances of this incident are still continuing.
