Arrested suspects linked to robbery at private school

The four suspects arrested on Monday during a well coordinated, crime intelligence-driven operation appeared before Mokopane Magistrate Court today (Thursday) have been remanded in custody.

MOKOPANE –According to a statement issued Brig Motlafela Mojapelo  the suspects  have been linked to several armed robberies in the area including an armed robbery at Mokopane Destiny Academy (MDA) where two teachers were tied up and robbed of their cell phones on 25 October.

“Three cell phones, 14 laptops and a projector were stolen before the suspects fled in an Opel Corsa. 12 laptops have since been recovered together with four firearms, ammunition and a police uniform,” added Mojapelo.

Suspects Alijah Tefo (26), Jerry Mathekga (28), Patrick Makgalaka (22) and Josiah Khumalo (27) will reappear on 16 November 2016.

MOKOPANE – Police have arrested four suspects during a well coordinated, crime intelligence-driven operation that was conducted in Mahwelereng Cluster yesterday afternoon (Monday). 

According to a statement issued Brig Motlafela Mojapelo the suspects, aged between 22 and 30 years old, were nabbed following an intense investigation that was necessitated by the spate of robberies that were committed in the areas of Mokopane and Mahwelereng.

“During the arrest police also seized four firearms, ammunition, a police uniform, a number of laptops and a motor vehicle that is believed to have been used when committing these crimes.”

 The firearms include a Revolver, 9mm Norinco, PTB Schmidt Baby Brown and Carrero Astelara pump action added Mojapelo.

 The suspects, all from Mahwelereng have been linked to Business Robbery and Burglary Residence that were committed during August this year.

 The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba commended the team for sterling work. He went  further to warn other criminals that these kind of arrests will be the order of the day for the entire period of the festive season.

 More arrests are expected as police investigations continue.
