Mitchell House launches Legacy Project

As the band began to play swing music and guests got dressed up in their 1920s attire, the Mitchell House Legacy project was launched in style on Friday night at the Ranch Resort.

POLOKWANE – The MC for the evening was Serobi Maja (CEO of Limpopo Gambling Board) and the event was attended by staff members, parents, distinguished guests from around Polokwane, the MEC for Health, Dr Phophi Ramatuba, ZCC Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane and special guest of the evening, ex Govenor of the South African Reserve Bank, Tito Mboweni.

The project, which has been in the pipeline for a while now is a means for parents, businesses and the community to get involved in making Mitchell House one of the best schools in Polokwane with the best infrastructure. The school needs a school hall, a dining facility, a sports pavilion, a refurbished science center as well as staff accommodation if they are to expand the school and in order to do that, the Legacy Project is a fund which has been set up by the school in which investors can contribute to the fund to ensure the school’s development. Depending on the amount of money invested in the fund, investors will leave their legacy at the school by means of mural recognition on the school gates, naming a section of the pavilion in their name or naming the building after the person, to name a few.

Headmaster, Andrew Cook hopes that the fund will bear fruit in the future and sees it as a great investment for the children’s children. “Mitchell House has a proud inheritance and those who attend our school today have benefited from those who had the faith to establish the school here,” he said. He encouraged guests to get involved with the project and help build a better future for future Mitchell House learners.

Guests could pledge their support to the fund by contributing on the evening and getting the Project going.
