POLOKWANE – According to a statement from Mankweng Police Spokesperson, Captain Mohlaka Mashiane, it is alleged the 14-year-old who stole his uncle’s firearm from the safe, started playing with the gun in class.
“He was allegedly threatening to shoot the deceased, a 14-year-old boy from the same village, when the gun went off.”
“The bullet struck the deceased, Edmond Mololo Raseona of Ga-Mokgohlwa under Kgoshi Mothapo, on the upper left eye killing him instantly,” said Mashiane.
Mashiane further added that both the deceased and the 14-year-old suspect are grade nine learners at different schools in the area.
The minor has been arrested on a charge of murder and the 65 year old pensioner has been charged with Negligent Possession of a Firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm after preliminary investigations indicated that the firearm is unlicensed.
The suspect will appear in Mankweng Magistrate’s Court soon concluded Mashiane.
