SAPS tip-off foils planned armed robbery in Nirvana

Four suspects were arrested during an intelligence led operation while allegedly on their way to commit and armed robbery in Nirvana

POLOKWANE – Four suspects were arrested during an intelligence led operation while allegedly on their way to commit and armed robbery at foreign owned shop in Nirvana on Thursday.

According to police reports the suspects aged 25, 35, 36 and 39 years old were arrested by the  by the Provincial Tracking Unit along Thabo Mbeki street near KFC and the old Standard bank in the Polokwane CBD. “The following items were recovered during the operation: Pump action (Shot gun ) with live ammunition ,9mm pistol with magazine containing live ammunition, cable ties, balaclavas, handgloves and a Toyota Hilux,” said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The Provincial Commissioner-LT. General Nneke Ledwaba have commended this team of members on the job well done.

The General have reiterated his words that this is a clear indication that as the Police we are ready to deal with any criminal act without hesitation and that what we request from our community members, is quality and reliable information about any criminal acts in and around their areas.

The arrested suspects will appear before Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday. Police investigations are still continuing.
