Murder accused Rameez Patel’s trial resumes in the Limpopo High Court today (Tuesday).

POLOKWANE – Murder accused Rameez Patel’s trial resumes in the Limpopo High Court today (Tuesday).

Police officer David Nkuna is still on the stand.

Nkuna and tells the court that is is unhappy with the manner in which defence lawyer, Tumi Mokwena, is asking questions and asks for more respect. Prosecutor Mashudu Mudau agrees.

Nkuna tells the court that after giving several statements Patel finally said he suspected his wife was killed during a robbery. He says he then asked Patel what was stolen from the house.

When he asked where the deceased’s handbag and cellphone were, Patel replied that he didn’t know.

According to Nkuna Patel said he was going to open a case of robbery at the Polokwane Police Station. But to this day no case has been opened.

Court adjourns for lunch.

Earlier today (Monday 24 October) Lesiba Ramaru the Investigating Officer and Ibrahim Bham who lives opposite Rameez Patel ‘s complex were called to the stand.

The witnesses were cross examined by Prosecutor Mashudu Mudau and defence lawyer Tumi Mokwena, while Judge Joseph Raulinga presided over the proceedings.

The deceased was wearing a grey T-shirt, black jeans, shoes, her wedding ring and a watch says Nkuna.

According to Nkuna, Rameez Patel told him he found his wife lying on her stomach in a pool of blood. But he saw no blood on Patel.

Nkuna says he asked Patel why he went to take a bath while his wife was lying in a pool of blood, but Patel never gave him an answer.

Nkuna says they found blood in the kitchen sink and the blinds were on the floor. He suspects that the deceased attempted to get the attention of passerbys.

Patel told Nkuna that he last saw his wife alive at 14:00 that day when he came to fetch their kids and domestic worker.
