POLOKWANE – The storm on Saturday night brought strong winds with it which caused some havoc as trees were blown over and it left the streets strewn with leaves.
According to Wayne Venter, a forecaster at the South African Weather Service, Polokwane is expected to receive more rainfall over the weekend in the form of mild thunderstorms. Venter explained that the country is currently in a neutral state when it comes to rainfall and normal rainfall is expected to occur during the summer months as a weak La Niña is expected to form. “The drought is not going away any time soon and at this stage, we aren’t getting enough rain to make a big difference,” he said.
