Couple hijacked, left naked alongside the road

The Police in Maake have launched a manhunt for a group of armed suspects who hijacked and robbed two medical doctors of their vehicles and personal belongings between last night and this morning outside Tzaneen.

LIMPOPO – The Police in Maake have launched a manhunt for a group of armed suspects who hijacked and robbed two medical doctors of their vehicles and personal belongings between last night and this morning outside Tzaneen.

“The couple who identified themselves as husband and wife and as medical doctors, were found at around 02:00 this morning (Saturday) by police members from Tshitale Village outside Thohoyandou, said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Matshe Ngoepe.

“The couple were walking along the road naked,” added Ngoepe.

According to the couple they were allegedly hijacked after the female victim driving the Mercedez-Benz got a puncture was forced to stop in Tickyline village. The Husband driving a Toyota Legend Van also stopped.

The group of armed suspects pointed their firearms at the couple and fired a few shots forcing them into the van and drove off. The couple were stripped of their belongings and  dumped naked in bushes outside Thohoyandou.

“Both victims were uninjured,” said Ngoepe.

The Station Commander of Shitale donated clothing to both victims and immediately started tracking the vehicles, a Mercedez-Benz with registration  TANGY L and the Toyota Legend 45 with registration DGC 821 L, in both Tshitale and Maake Policing areas but with no success.

No arrests have been made as yet and police investigations continue.
