Cash-in-transit heist, 17 suspects on the run

Three security officers were injured in attack

LIMPOPO – Letsitele police have launched a manhunt for a group of suspects who attacked and robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money, along the Tzaneen and Gravelotte road on Monday evening.

It is alleged the three security officers travelling in the cash-in-transit vehicle were forced off the road by 17 unknown armed suspects travelling in five vehicles. The suspects started shooting in the direction of the cash-in-transit vehicle, hitting the driver of the vehicle in the right leg and the right arm. The other two men were shot in their right arms. The suspects blew open the safe and robbed the vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngeope.

No arrests have been made and police urge anyone with information to contact LT. Colonel Jabulani Ngobeni at 082 451 7181, their nearest police station or the 24-hour crime stop number 08600 10111.
