Seven farm attack suspects arrested outside Louis Trichardt

The two victims were assaulted and left on the farm, says the police.

LIMPOPO – The police from the Mara policing area have arrested seven suspects aged between 23 and 45 years old after the suspects attacked a farm in the area.

The suspects were arrested on Friday evening at around 21:00 through the farm watch said provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“They tied up the two farm workers using cables and ordered them at gun point to call the owner of the farm. When the owner did not respond the suspects proceeded to the house with the two victims in tow. On attempting to enter the premises the alarm went off whereby they turned on the two farm workers and assaulted them using an axe. One of the workers was also stabbed,” added Ngoepe.

They left the victims and fled the scene in a metallic grey Fiat with a Gauteng registration.

Farm Watch  in the area spotted and stopped the vehicle and arrested the seven men believed to be from Zimbabwe. Three unlicenced firearm were found and the police ere summoned.

The suspects will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of attempted house robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm said Ngoepe.

Police investigations are still continuing.
