Traditional and modern art come together

Brett Wayne marries photography and digital painting to create beautiful scenes

HAENERTSBURG – Pretoria-based artist Brett Wayne Stanley’s recent exhibition at the Magoebaskloof/ Haenertsburg Spring Fair was truly remarkable for many visitors.

Brett uses a combination of photography and digital painting techniques in his artworks, making him one of only two artists in South Africa who employ this method.

One of his most popular artworks is the bridge at Skukuza.

One of his most popular pieces is of the bridge at Skukuza. Brett married two photos to depict the length of the bridge and used separate photographs to complete the artwork, a very impressive feat.

He digitally painted the sky, the coaches of the trains featured and the elephants and the piece took altogether three weeks to produce.

He usually works on canvass but he used high quality fine art paper for all his works showcased at the fair.

Along with being an amazing artist, he is also a tour guide.

He started his professional career as an accountant but soon gave his creative side wings and ventured into photography, finally culminating in these breathtaking works of art. He has been living out his passion for the past three years now.
