Youth dance group livens things up

Everyone in the city knows it's not a party until the Let Them Talk dance group shows up

POLOKWANE – The dancers of Let Them Talk believe if local businesses could sponsor them, they could become the best young wedding dance group in the province.

Group manager Herman Serumula says with sponsorship the group will be able to buy uniforms to improve their image and they will attend long distance events. He says the dance group performs at events such as weddings, parties and tombstone-unveiling ceremonies.

Hailing from Greenside Ext 44, the 15 youth members have a passion for dancing. The group was put together two years ago to keep the children occupied and off the streets, but because they have become so popular, it has become a way for the youth to earn a bit of money.

“The money we earn from the performances help the learners who are from less-privileged families to buy school uniforms,” Serumula says.

“Since there aren’t many activities to entertain the youth in our communities, we came up with the idea to form a dance group to offer them entertainment,” he added.

The group’s Marketing Manager, Stanley Seanego, says music is their life.

“If it were up to us, we would declare music as the 12th official language of South Africa because music is understood by all, it crosses cultural and language barriers, it gives us the medium to express ourselves,” says Seanego.

“We have big dreams for our group. However we sometimes face challenges with finance for our trips. We believe that if we could receive assistance above the little we have in our pockets we could do more for our communities,” he says.
