Moosa kidnapping: three suspects remain in custody

The three face charges of hijacking as well as the attempted murder of three police officers who were shot during Moosa’s rescue operation.

POLOKWANE – Anisah Moosa’s kidnapping case was postponed to 18 November for a regional court case after the three accused, Benny Mudau (34), Samuel Kubo (28) and Masilo Gafane (33) appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court recently.
The three face charges of hijacking as well as the attempted murder of three police officers who were shot during Moosa’s rescue operation.
Moosa was kidnapped outside her uncle’s home in Nirvana in March, and was held hostage while the kidnappers demanded ransom from her family, after which a rescue operation led to her safe return.
Two of the three kidnappers also face other charges.
Gafane was recently re-arrested on a charge of theft by false pretenses, and released on R1 000 bail by the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court and Gafane, along with Kobo, was arrested on 24 May on a charge of armed robbery and granted R5 000 bail each by the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court.
The three suspects remain in custody until their next court appearance.
