Refilwe aims for the stars

The name Refilwe Malatji is almost a household name, not only in Polokwane, but in modelling circles across the country.

POLOKWANE – The 11-year-old’s name first appeared in BONUS earlier this year before she left for Georgia in Eastern Europe to compete in the Mr and Miss Galaxy pageant in April. She excitedly informed us that she was crowned Little Miss Galaxy 2016. Recently she contacted us again to say she is going to the Dominican Republic to represent Polokwane and South Africa in the Miss Beauty World International Competition.

“On Saturday, 10 September I took part in the Miss Beauty World South Africa Competition in Tzaneen and won the Pre-teen category and was announced the winner.”

She explains that September was quite a busy month for her since she took part in many competitions. She went to Klerksdorp where she took part in the Toddler and Tween of the World competition.

Here she won her category (11-12) as well as Best Interview – Overall.

“I loved this competition, I made a lot of friends and we danced and played and had great fun. The ramp-walk was awesome and I enjoyed the interview as well.”

On 17 September she again travelled to Tzaneen to take part in the Miss Face of Tzaneen pageant where she won the first prize.

“On Saturday, 24 September, I took part in the Miss Limpopo Toyota Competition during the Toyota Family Festival. It was a lot of fun and I won second place. I don’t mind not winning as it was another girl’s turn to win. I was just having fun.”

Refilwe is looking for sponsors to help her go to the Dominican Republic next year.

This trip will be for eight days and she needs around R60 000.
