Hawker halves his income in aid of Cansa

Tesh has vowed to give half his income to Cansa this Breast Cancer Awareness Month

POLOKWANE – Self-employed Zimbabwean national, Tesh Chivazve has vowed to give half his income to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

Tesh makes flowers from wire and beads and sells them to make an income. In support of cancer sufferers, he has promised to donate half the money he makes this month, which is cancer awareness month, to the cancer foundation.

“One of my friends has cancer, I have seen how it affects a person first hand,” he says. “I felt the need to help when I learned it cannot be prevented.”

Tesh has been in South Africa since 2009. He has no other income other than the flowers he makes.

“I am making flowers using pink beads this month; I used yellow beads in September as it was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month,” he explains.

He says he travels to Louis Trichardt and Johannesburg to get his beads and the wire he buys in the city. It takes him about 20 minutes to make one flower.

“Getting the material is a bit of a problem since it is expensive. But that will not keep me from doing my work.”

“These flowers cost R10 and Tesh has promised to give half the money to Cansa. We ask the public to assist him in this good deed,” René Robberts, Cansa mobaliser, said.
