R650 000 drugs, vehicles seized in drug syndicate bust

According to a statement issued by LT Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, a Provincial Crime Intelligence-led joint operation led to the arrest of 15 members of a drug dealing crime syndicate.

LIMPOPO –  Two South Africans and 13 foreign nationals aged between 26 and 53 were arrested after a week-long operation ended in the early hours of this (Friday) morning.

The men were operating in the Modimolle, Belabela, Northam and Thabazimbi areas.

“Four big balls of cat, five small balls of cat, 23 sachets of cat and one sachet of dagga were recovered in the Bela Bela and Modimolle areas and three sachets of cat, one ball of cat and two vehicles used to deliver drugs were also confiscated in the Northam and Thabazimbi areas.”

The estimated value the drugs and transport vehicles is R650 000.

The suspects will appear before various magistrate courts in the above-mentioned areas as from Monday on the following charges: dealing in illicit drugs, contravention of the Immigration Act and using motor vehicles to commit crimes.

Various entities formed part of the operation, including the TRT, Tracking Team and the K9 Unit, in conjunction with the Department of Home Affairs.

Provincial Police Commissioner, LT Gen Nneke Jim Ledwaba, commended the units on a job well done and said other drug dealers’ days are numbered unless they stop their dirty activities.

Police investigations are still continuing.
