Murder suspect remanded in custody pending further investigation

The woman was arrested at the area's RDP settlement on Wednesday 21 September for the murder of her boyfriend.

LIMPOPO – A woman who was arrested in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man in Leeuwfontein outside Marble Hall was remanded in custody when she appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect, Vinolia Mamogobo (30), was remanded in custody for further investigations. She is expected to reappear before the court on 8 November on a charge of murder.

According to police, the woman was arrested at the area’s RDP settlement on Wednesday 21 September for the murder of her boyfriend.

Marble Hall Police Spokesperson, Const Lethunya Mmuroa, said it is alleged the victim, who cannot be named before the next-of-kin are informed, and the suspect were involved in an argument before the murder occurred.

“The suspect stabbed the victim with a knife and he died at the crime scene. Police were called and a case docket of murder was opened.

“The deceased was transported to Groblersdal state mortuary. The suspect was arrested. She appeared for the first time before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 23 September on a charge of murder following her arrest,” Mmuroa explained.

It is still not known what the argument was about. Police investigations are ongoing.
