Former Arsenal FC player, Ian Wright is heading to South Africa to pay tribute to former Bafana Bafana player, Jabulani Mendu.

POLOKWANE – In support of the Jabulani Mendu Foundation (JMF) partnership, Wright will be participating in two exclusive events in Johannesburg on 25 October; the first is a Golf Day at the Killarney Golf Course and the second is an exclusive dinner event at Monte Casino. He will also be hosting a soccer clinic for 200 youths in Soweto at the Nike Centre in Soweto on 26 October.

In a video, Wright said: “I am really looking forward to meeting all the Arsenal supporters in South Africa, as well as raising funds for a good cause.”

Jabulani Mendu is equally excited, he said: “Having Ian Wright come all the way to our country to help us make South African children’s dreams come true is wonderful, the organisation is privileged to have him on board”.

Wright has established a long term partnership with JMF through UK based company Base Africa, to assist in empowering youth through sport as well as to identify talented footballers, offering them hope and opportunities for a better future. This partnership also extends to former footballers who require further skills and training to make them part of the football industry so as to carry out one of the missions of the foundation.

With Arsenal, Wright, has lifted the Premier League trophy, both major domestic trophies, and the European Cup Winners Cup. Wright scored a total of 185 goals for Arsenal in 279 starts and 9 substitute appearances. He played 581 league games in total, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in Scotland and England, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
