SAPS joint-operation successes in Limpopo

Five suspects arrested for various crimes in the province as well as 37 Illegal immigrants will appear before respective regional courts in the province say police.

LIMPOPO –  A statement issued by LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed an intelligence-led operation composed of the Polokwane Flying Squad, Crime Intelligence Unit and the Provincial Drug Unit on Illegal Immigrants yielded led to the detainment of 37 illegal immigrants.

Information was received that three quantum busses were transporting illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe to Pretoria yesterday (Wednesday). The intelligence unit was told the Zimbabwean nationals crossed into South Africa via the Limpopo river illegally and not through the Border Post. The vehicles were allegedly driving along the N1 South highway just outside Polokwane when they were stopped and searched. A total of 21 men, 11 women and five children were found in the busses and they will be charged with the Immigration Act.

The two drivers were also arrested for transporting illegal immigrants under the Immigration Act and will all appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon.

Meanwhile, the Police in Bela Bela have arrested a 33-year-old man who has been on their wanted list for housebreaking and theft. The man will appear before the Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court soon.

In a separate incident, four suspects aged between 23 and 48 were arrested in Seshego and Burgersfort during joint-operations composed of the Crime Intelligence Unit, K9 Unit and detectives. The suspects will appear before the Burgersfort and Seshego Magistrate’d Courts soon on charges of possession of dagga.

Police investigations in all the above mentioned incidents are underway.
