Water shortage: tankers to be deployed to affected areas

Those in the lower catchment are advised to limit water usage to domestic use only.

POLOKWANE – Residents in Moregloed, Serala View, Flora Park, Bendor, Ster Park and Thornhill are currently experiencing low pressure and in some cases a shortage of water as a result of technical stoppages at sources outside the city.

According to a report issued by the municipality, they were alerted that the Ebenezer plant was out of operation due to a break in power supply last night. The Olifantspoort plant was also out for a few hours yesterday. These factors negatively impacted the reservoir levels. It has been reported that the supply from Ebenezer to Polokwane resumed around 03:00 this morning.

At present, the reservoir levels are too low and it will take a while before they reach acceptable levels. In the meantime, the municipality will deploy water tankers to the affected areas as a temporary relief. Measures including throttling of lines and reduction of flow to lower catchment areas are being implemented. Those in the lower catchment are advised to limit water usage to domestic use only. Municipal water must not be utilised for watering of gardens.

Other affected areas can report to the municipality using the following numbers 0152902376/2457/2001/2002
