Edupark brings back gold award from Oslo

An innovative programme, facilitated by Edupark for Eskom, which equips emerging contractors with the necessary skills to enable them to build sustainable businesses won gold in the “Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills’ category of the Global Best Awards in Oslo recently.
Edupark, a non-profit company and facility of the University of Limpopo was selected as winner of the Gold Global Best Award by the International Educational Partnership Network in the category of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills for the Africa region earlier this year. They thus became automatic entrants in the Global Best Overall Award.
The bi-annual Global Best Awards celebrates outstanding and effective business, education and community organisation partnerships that have a significant impact on the communities in which they operate.
Jo Nel, Chief Executive Officer of Edupark and Adri Williams, who manages the Eskom Contractors’ Training Academy contract and heads the programme’s administration, the Edupark staff and all the facilitators departed for Oslo on 14 September to collect their award at a ceremony two days later. The Eskom Contractors’ Academy courses were launched in 2008 with Edupark conducting two courses with 14 students in each. The courses comprise aspects such as project management and supply chain management related fields, and one week each month for eight months the participants meet to be taught. The courses are now presented all over the country.
