Bomb cracker victim dances to a new tune

“I am grateful for this gift as Kosie struggles to sleep at night" - Caroline Strydom, mother of the victim

POLOKWANE – Excited laughter filled the house of Kosie Wessels (7) on Wednesday afternoon, 14 September, when Review surprised him with a gift, sponsored by a Good Samaritan.

Kosie lost his hand in a bomb cracker accident 11 days ago.  His anticipation to open the gift was clearly visible, where he needed two hands he used his feet to hold on to the gift and at times his mom, Caroline Strydom, helped.

When the CD started playing, Kosie jumped up and started dancing. After a few quick questions he learned how to skip to the next song while smiling all the way.

“I am happy, now I can listen to music.”

The hifi and a CD voucher were delivered at Review’s office by an anonymous reader.

While Kosie shows the wounds on his stomach and face that are healing nicely, his mom explains that they will be visiting Pretoria on Saturday where Kosie will receive a new prosthetic hand.

“I am grateful for this gift as Kosie struggles to sleep at night, I’ve heard that a radio will help him sleep,” says Caroline.
