Residents raise a stink over burst sewer pipes

Westenburg residents have been waking up to an unpleasant smell for weeks, and they say enough is enough.

According to residents, this sewage system is constantly blocked.

POLOKWANE- This comes after several sewage pipe bursts in the area. Residents are concerned about the health risks as a result of the raw sewage. Leroy van Zyl a Westenburg residents says this is a constant problem in Westenburg. “This is a big problem because every other week, the pipes are blocked. It is a concern because children play in the street and it is not hygienic. I don’t think the municipality is taking us seriously.

According to Van Zyl, the municipality needs to visit the area every week to maintain the sewerage system.
