Weekend police patrol leads to 63 arrests

Mankweng Police managed to make 63 arrests over the weekend.

POLOKWANE – The suspects faces different charges and will appear before Mankweng Magistrates Court in due course.

According to Mankweng Police Spokesperson, Capt Mohlaka Mashiane seven suspects were arrested for possession of dagga, 23 for public drinking, seven for driving under the influence, 17 for illegal gambling, two for possession of dangerous weapons, four for assault and three for house breaking.

He said these arrests are all part of patrols in the area and stop and search activities the police conducted over the weekend. “These arrests send a harsh message to anyone who plans to commit crime in the area. We will be patrolling our streets and making these kinds of arrests until our area becomes a crime free zone,” explained Mashiane.

He further said the police don’t want residents to sleep with one eye open. He added that residents should report criminal activities in their area, to assist the police to bring perpetrators to book.
