Free access to Limpopo parks and resorts from 12-16 Sept

Limpopo Wildlife Resorts (LWR) will give free access to identified Provincial Resorts and Parks from 12 to 16 September 2016 as part of their Tourism Month celebrations.

LIMPOPO -Nwanedi Game Reserve, Nylsvley Nature Reserve, Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve, Doorndraai Dam Nature Reserve, Rust de Winter Nature Reserve, Mokolo Dam Nature Reserve, Schuinsdraai Nature Reserve and Makuya Nature Reserve will be open to the public free of charge over the four day period dubbed Wildlife Mahala Week.

The dates for Mahala Week coincides with South African National Parks Week wherein people are given free access to local parks to promote tourism in the area. The participating National Parks in Limpopo are the Kruger National Park, the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site and Marakele National Park.

According to Polokwane Municipality Stakeholder Relations Officer, Desiree Manyane, the Polokwane Game Reserve is one of the tourism landmarks that will grant visitors free access to the premises. She urged residents to visit these sites during Mahala Week.

“The Wildlife Mahala Week is aimed at getting people acquainted with everything on offer at local Parks and Resorts and creating a culture of travelling. We also hope to create awareness of wildlife conservation,” Executive Director of LWR, Fixon Hlungwane stated.

This year’s Tourism Month theme is ‘Tourism for all, universal accessibility’ and the aim is to encourage accessibility to game parks and reserves despite age, gender, race or disability.

Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) Acting CEO, Lulama Tshabalala said, “Tourism Month is now in full swing and we urge everyone to take advantage of the various special packages the industry has to offer. We further urge residents to take part in other tourism activities this month as we celebrate nature and all it has to offer.”

She further said the official tourism month hashtags are #TourismForAll and #Golimpopo and residents are encouraged to upload pictures of themselves while visiting some of the parks and resorts using these hashtags to spread awareness of these sites.
