Child (10) murdered: police hunt for suspect/s

The child's body was discovered in a shallow grave.

LIMPOPO – The police have launched a massive manhunt for suspect/suspects responsible for the murder of a 10-year-old girl who has been missing since Monday.

The body of  Zanele Shirinda was found buried in a shallow grave in the bushes between the Giyani Stadium and Ngove village at around 12:00 Thursday (today), reports provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The girl was reported missing after she went to the local shop at around 18:00 on Monday evening, 5 September, adds Ngoepe.

“A case of murder has been opened at the Giyani Police Station,” says Ngoepe.

The motive behind the incident is still unknown and police investigations continue.

The Provincial Commissioner-LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned this senseless killing with the strongest possible terms and has assured the communities that the police will not rest until the culprits are brought to book.
