Bomb cracker victim fights back after losing hand

“He was transferred to Mediclinic Limpopo as they have all the facilities needed to help Kosie"

POLOKWANE – Kosie Wessels, the seven-year-old boy who lost his left hand in a bomb cracker accident on Saturday, was transferred to Mediclinic Limpopo on Monday afternoon.

According to other news sources, the boy’s wounds got septic, but Review spoke to Istha McMillan, Patient Experience Manager at Mediclinic Limpopo, as well as to the boy’s mother, Caroline Strydom, who confirmed that his wounds are not septic.

“He was transferred to Mediclinic as they have all the facilities needed to help Kosie. While he is at Mediclinic, I can also sit with him the whole time.”

The family currently receive free therapy from a counsellor, Gideon Grobler, who offered to assist the family.

“We were not unhappy with the services at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital but they told us not all of their equipment is working. In the private hospital he will be looked after better. The doctor told us he might be discharged on Wednesday.”
