Stolen vehicle recovered, 8 detained

Task team members from Polokwane and Mankweng have made yet another breakthrough with carjacking in the area with the recovery of yet another stolen vehicle.

POLOKWANE – 8 suspects were taken in for questioning after police found the vehicle, which was reported stolen on Sunday night in a residential area of Polokwane, parked in a yard in Unit F, Mankweng on Monday morning, said police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba.

The vehicle’s discs and registration number, which was originally L had been changed to MP by the time the members found the vehicle he added.

“The 8 suspects, 5 men and 3 women, will later be charged with possession of suspected stolen vehicle and other related charges once police investigation are complete.”

This follows the arrest of three men and recovery of another stolen vehicle over the weekend.

Police members with the assistance of a tracker company recovered a stolen vehicle at Ga-Malahlela village outside Mankweng on Saturday afternoon. Further investigation led to the arrest of three men traveling in a white Golf 6 VW.

Three illegal pistols, believed to have been used to commit criminal activities, were also confiscated during the arrest.
