CDM Mayor urges staff to study

The newly appointed Mayor of the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), John Mpe of the ANC, said he will not tolerate unskilled staff and plans to set in motion a training initiative to equip his staff with the necessary skills for their positions.

LIMPOPO – Mpe said his priority is to train all staff and councillors so they can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to help them carry out their responsibilities to offer the best service delivery to the people.

He was welcomed during the inaugural council meeting at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Friday. “Those without formal qualifications must study toward a qualification or degree before the end of their term,” he said.

Mpe said this will be achieved by partnering with local higher learning institutions. He added that he looks forward to working with competent staff towards the mandate of better service delivery to the people.

He said education is the key instrument in changing the world and encourages the staff of CDM to study and make a habit of reading.

The CDM consists of 56 seats of which 35 belong to the ANC, 15 to the EFF, and five to the DA. Nakedi Lekganyane was re-elected as Speaker for CDM.

Mpe added that he wants to improve public participation by engaging with communities to make Limpopo prosperous.
