Girl (15) stabbed in head, shoulder near school

Police are asking anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of two suspects who attacked and stabbed a 15-year-old on Wednesday afternoon to contact their nearest police station.

POLOKWANE – A 15-year-old girl was hospitalised after being stabbed during an alleged robbery on the corner of Grobler and Brown Street on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Netcare 911 paramedics she sustained serious injuries and paramedics had to stabilise her on the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Reports indicated that she was walking home from school at around 15:00 when it happened.

“A 15-year-old girl was attacked by two unknown men yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon,” confirmed Polokwane police spokesperson WO Lesiba Ramoshaba on Thursday.

“The girl was assaulted and robbed of her cellular phone. She was stabbed in the head and shoulder,” he added.

She was taken to hospital for further medical care and was released the same day said Ramoshaba.

The police are investigating a case of assault, grevious bodily harm (GBH) and robbery.
