New Look school keeps drop-in centre warm

New Look Primary School donated food parcels, toys and clothes to the less privileged at Are Rataneng Ka Moka Drop-in Centre at Extension 71 in Seshego outside Polokwane on Thursday.

LIMPOPO – New Look Primary School Acting Principal, Lydia Masekoameng, said there are several learners from their school who depend on the drop-in centre for food and care everyday after school.

“With the little we have as a school, we decided to contribute to the community of Seshego to help the drop-in centre take care of the community. We want to see our children coming to school happy,” said Masekoameng.

She said for the less privileged children to be successful in their lives, support is needed from the teachers and the communities.

“Sharing the little you have with your neighbour does not mean you have a lot.

It shows the love and caring you have for those who are unable to provide for themselves. It saddens us to see learners who attend school wearing torn uniforms and on an empty stomach.

That is why we urge the communities to help us make a difference in their lives and ensure we help form strong leaders for our province and the country as a whole.”

Are Rataneg Ka Moka Drop-in Centre Manager, Grace Manthatha, said she believes the donation will greatly benefit the centre and enable them to help others.

“We often receive food parcels from stores in town, but a place to call home for the children still remains a challenge. I use my house as a centre for the children, however, space is becoming limited due to the increasing number of people we assist,” said Manthatha.

“I love working with children and with the drop-in centre I try my best to help these children succeed in life. We grew up in a struggle situation and it is in our hands to ensure that we build a good platform and solid foundation for our children.”

Morongwa Moremi (10) is one of the children who depends on the centre.

“I love being part of the centre because I learn different things everyday. With the help I receive from the teachers, my schoolwork becomes easier and I have renewed hope for the future,” said Moremi.
